Tom Stroud

Tom is President of HTKI Advisors – an international drilling project management consulting firm. Tom has over 40 years of drilling and completion experience both in engineering and management roles for the domestic and international oil and gas industry.  Tom holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University. Tom has been involved in all engineering and management aspects of drilling and completion programs – designing, planning and execution on all types of drilling rigs, including Land, Barge, Jack‐up, Platform, Submersibles, Semisubmersibles, and Drillships in up to 1,050 m water.  Tom has successfully managed drilling projects in the GOM Deep Water, USA Land, Mexico, Venezuela, UK, Netherlands, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, Canada, and New Zealand.   Previous industry experience includes work experience with Placid Oil Company (Drilling Manager), Triton Engineering (Vice President – International), Halliburton (Vice President Drilling Systems), PathFinder LWD (President), and most recently with HTKI Advisors as President. Tom is a member of SPE and AADE.

Jim Wakefield

Jim is a Senior Drilling and Completions Advisor with HTKI Advisors. Jim has over 34 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He brings senior level expertise to projects including strategic planning, offshore subsea development, engineering and operational support, production management, and project evaluation. Operations engaged range from well completion/workovers, normal and abnormal pressure frac-packs, HPHT completions, subsea completions and international drilling. He has worked on rigs such as land, platform, semisubmersibles and drillships in water depths up to 2800 m. Jim’s vast international involvement has been in Algeria, Australia, Columbia, Cote d’Ivore, Gulf of Mexico – United States, Kurdistan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, and Tunisia. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana. Jim has a Bachelor of Science – Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado.

Shawn Vincent

Shawn is a Senior Well Engineering Advisor with HTKI Advisors. Shawn has over 20 years’ experience in drilling roles for the domestic and international oil and gas industry.  Shawn holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Shawn has been involved in all aspects of drilling engineering and well operations– designing, planning and execution on multiple types of drilling rigs, including Land, Jack‐up, Semisubmersibles, Drillships, TLPs and Spars in up to 2,400 m of water.  Shawn has successfully conducted drilling projects in the GOM Deep Water, USA Land, Mexico, Trinidad, Brazil, Angola, Cameroon, Gabon, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique.  Shawn has also served as a drilling advisor on various drilling, decommissioning and organization restructuring projects in Asia, Africa, North and South America. Previous industry experience includes work experience with Triton Engineering, BP, Addax, Anadarko and Shell.

Mike Harris

Mike is a Senior Well Construction Advisor with HTKI Advisors, has over 40 years of drilling and completion experience both in engineering and management roles for the domestic and international oil and gas industry.  Mike holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is a Graduate Fellow of the University of Houston. Mike has been involved in all engineering and management aspects of drilling and completion programs – designing, planning and execution on all types of drilling rigs, including Land, Barge, Jack‐up, Platform, Submersibles, Semisubmersibles, and Drillships in up to 2,400 m water. Mike has successfully managed drilling projects in the North Sea, Egypt, Australia, Argentina, Trinidad, The Netherlands, Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, USA Land, and Mozambique.  Previous industry experience includes work experience includes over 20 years with Amoco / BP in various roles ending his career with BP as the GOM Regional Drilling Manager followed by seven years as Apache Corporations Director of Worldwide Drilling. Mike spent time with El Paso as their International Manager based in Houston. Mike joined HTKI Advisors in 2011 with assignments in Houston, China, and Mozambique as a Senior Drilling Advisor. Mike is a member of SPE and AADE and various industry sponsored study groups related to Drilling and Drilling Management. Mike is considered an expert in Human Factors related to Well Control in Deepwater and has led various industry studies on the subject.

Wendell Olivier

Wendell is a Senior Geological Advisor with HTKI Advisors.  He is an experienced upstream technical advisor for exploration and asset development projects with an emphasis on organizational capability, resource optimization, and project execution. Wendell has over 40 years of experience with Gulf/Chevron, Addax/Sinopec Petroleum, Endeavor Management, and Dripping Rock Oil and Gas Consulting in nearly all major producing regions around the world. His technical background is in Geology and Geophysics with specialties in carbonate and siliciclastic sedimentology. Regions of upstream E&P expertise include: U.S., Middle East, Latin America, Far East, Africa and Europe. He has held various technical and managerial positions with Gulf/Chevron for 27 years, followed by 5 years as a senior executive with Addax/Sinopec, and 7 years as an independent upstream consultant. Wendell has broad oil and gas exploration and production experience including: frontier exploration and new venture evaluation, reservoir management, conventional and unconventional resource evaluation, annual budget preparation and management, and advisory roles in reserves reporting. The last 25 years of experience has focused on international exploration/production projects.

Laurn Larson

Laurn is a Senior Geophysical Advisor for HTKI Advisors with over 37 years of geologic and geophysical experience in the domestic and international oil and gas industry.  He holds a BS in geology from the University of North Dakota. Laurn has been involved in almost all technical aspects of the upstream oil and gas industry’s geologic and geophysical programs. These include experience in clastic, carbonate, and evaporite geology and geophysics; extensional and compressional regimes; sequence stratigraphy and seismic stratigraphy; seismic acquisition and processing (2D and 3D); potential fields modeling and interpretation; geologic and geophysical data interpretation and prospecting (exploration and development); seismic 2D and 3D modeling; seismic fluid analysis, rock physics modeling, and interpretation (AVA/AVO); petrophysical analysis and interpretation; geochemical interpretation; play and prospect risking; 3D volume instruction and software problem solving; and well-site supervision of petrophysical and velocity data collection. He has upstream onshore and/or offshore work experience in Angola, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Thailand, UK North Sea, USA, and Vietnam. Previous industry experience includes Gulf (senior geophysicist), Chevron (senior geologist and staff geophysicist), and Repsol (staff geophysicist).

Stephen Luthy

Stephen is a Senior Geoscience Advisor for HTKI Advisors with over 37 years of experience in exploration and reservoir development, which includes over 23 years of international project work. He holds a BA in Geology from the University of California, and an MSc in Geology from the University of Montana. Portions of his work may be found in publications of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and the U.S. Geological Survey. During his 31-year career with Chevron/Gulf, Steve held positions of increasing responsibility that included both advanced technical, and supervisory roles. His early career included exploration and field development assignments in the Rocky Mountain and Permian Basin regions of North America. This experience was followed by 22 years of international exploration and development geoscience experience in the Middle East, West Africa, Eurasia, and South America. This work required detailed analysis of some of the world’s largest reservoirs including Permian carbonates of Karachaganak Field, Jurassic carbonates of Abqaiq Field, and Tertiary deep-water sandstones of Agbami Field. As an independent consultant, Steve successfully conducted integrated characterization on some of Kuwait’s largest carbonate reservoirs. More recently he has undertaken regional, exploratory mapping of Cretaceous objectives in the Powder River Basin, WY. His geoscience focus includes: integrated reservoir characterization and analysis, 3D geocellular modeling, exploration / development well planning and operations, prospect generation, petrophysical log interpretation, stratigraphic correlation, 2D / 3D / 4D & multi-azimuth seismic interpretation, and subsurface mapping.

Dave Jones

Dave is a Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor with HTKI Advisors. Dave has over 40 years of professional experience focused on upstream asset development and management projects. He has held technical and management positions with Gulf Oil, Chevron, Saudi Aramco and as an independent consultant working projects in the US, Middle East, Mexico, West Africa and Far East on the largest and most complex reservoirs in the world. David is an expert reservoir engineer and excels in the creation and implementation of reservoir management solutions providing improved hydrocarbon recoveries, production performance and capital efficiency. Dave is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a BS in Petroleum Engineering.
